Training and Experience

Before I moved to Suffolk at the end of 2016, I worked in Birmingham as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in private practice for over 25 years and worked as a counsellor in higher education for some years during this time.  I am also an adult educator, having run a professional psychodynamic counsellor training at the University of Birmingham for over 10 years, and now offer a range of training in psychotherapy, personal development and pastoral practice.  You can view a list of my publications here.

I initially qualified as a counsellor by completing a Masters’ in Psychodynamic Counselling (a BACP accredited training) at the University of Birmingham in 1993, and went on to train as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with the West Midlands Institute of Psychotherapy, qualifying in 1999.  More recently, in 2015 I completed the Converging Streams clinical training in Energy Psychotherapy.

I qualified as a Supervisor with the University of Leicester in 1998, and have supervised counsellors, therapists and those in the helping professions for many years.

I am currently undertaking a 2 year, 500 hour training to be a yoga teacher, at Mandala Yoga Ashram

My professional psychotherapy registration is with UKCP, which is my regulating body.  I am also regulated by the Code of Ethics and Practice of the West Midlands Institute of Psychotherapy ,a Member Organisation of UKCP.
